Public events

 

Compensation and time commitments negotiable within what is normal, reasonable and customary for the establishment.  Can provide our own sound or use house sound.  Generally available weekends, but will consider weeknights.

 

Private parties

 

Suburban Angst (SA) welcomes inquiries regarding private parties and venues.  Recognizing these are often private residences or neighborhood pool / clubhouse events, please carefully consider the following.  The information below is intended to help establish a framework to help ensure that your event is a rockin’ good time and that we (SA & the HOST) all do our part.  All of this is open for discussion and review.   If you’re serious, we’ll generally need to visit the location and discuss with you before making a final commitment.  Please remember that SA is four busy working family guys and we’ll generally need a few days to put our heads together to answer any questions regarding availability.  THANK YOU!

 

Logistics:

SA will need access to the venue approximately 1.5 hours before guests arrive for set up and sound check.  HOST help is not required to set up or break down. Please have any temporary structures fully erected or furniture moved etc, BEFORE we arrive.  Normally we’ll start playing about an hour AFTER the planned party start time – we want the fashionably late to be there!  Of course we’re flexible. 

 

Sound Reinforcement:

We’ll provide our own PA and equipment.  This can also be used before we start up and during breaks to play your ipod tunes or whatever.  We have sufficient sound for any reasonable indoor or outdoor space.

 

Physical Space:

The band and gear will require a space of about 12ft X 12ft, Minimum.  Ideally, there will be open space to spare for people, dancing etc.  Normal household electrical outlets will suffice.  The band will provide its own extension cords, power strips etc.  Note, TVs or other alliances operating on the same circuit could present a problem and may have to be shut off.

 

Outdoor Space – Rain:

Outdoor space and power requirements are the same as indoors, however the band requires a covered area and ideally would not set up on grass.  Even with the best of forecasts, a passing shower is always a possibility.  The show must go on!!   A permanent structure is best, but a temporary tent/awning setup of sufficient quality & ruggedness to withstand a steady rain or wind is also ok.  Our intent is always to set up and be prepared to play thru marginal weather and/or passing showers.  However, if weather turns for the worse, or rain becomes persistent, driving or “sideways”…we’re probably looking at a cancellation.   SA reserves the right to suspend play at any time in marginal weather to ensure the gear is adequately protected.  Note, rain or other delay does not commit SA to extend the engagement -- we’ll generally need to end the event and pack up at the previously agreed upon time.

 

Reservations etc:

It is the responsibility of the host to ensure that any necessary reservations or access privileges to clubhouses or other facilities is taken care of.  Host should also ensure where possible that adequate consideration is given to neighbors, noise, & ordinances.  Cancellation due to facility conflict or other issue is responsibility of the host. 

 

Refreshments:

We’re only human!!  Appreciate you sharing whatever it is you’re feeding your guests!  We won’t eat / drink much!!

 

Breaks:

Normally we’ll play for about 45 minutes, and take a break for about 15.  We’re flexible though.

 

Set list:

Please see the “Playlist” page on the website.  Normally we’ll stick to rehearsed set list.  We may entertain a request or two, but generally we’re not an open mic, open book band.  For shorter engagements you may want to hand pick songs from the set list.  For longer engagements, we’ll BRING IT ALL!!

 

 

Driving distances:

We’re generally sticking to the Greater Atlanta, Marietta area...but we can discuss other locations.

 

Guests: 

To put this bluntly…we’re mostly in this for the fun of it.  So quantity of people and type of engagement matter.   We may turn down an opportunity to play based solely on size of crowd.  Bigger party is better! 

We will consider smaller events though, and we can adjust playlist and lyrics for all ages crowd.  

 

Cancellations:

Cancellations can and will happen.  This is highly unlikely and would most certainly be driven by either a real emergency or illness.  But SA will make EVERY effort to hold to our commitments and make suitable accommodation to reschedule..  Please note…if the HOST cancels on the day of the event, then partial or even full compensation (depending on circumstances) may be required.

 

Compensation:

As noted, we’re mostly in this for the fun of it!!  However, there’s a considerable amount of investment of time and money on the part of the band in order to make this happen. 

 

We do not have published rates, and will discuss with you case by case.  As discussed above… day, time, type of event, size of event, duration, driving distance and other factors may affect rate.  Generally we’ll take into account what you’re willing to pay.   And the host is always welcome to solicit tips on our behalf too!!   Payment is appreciated at time of event.
