The guys of Angst are many things, but foremost they're devoted spouses and dads. They've discovered over many years of practice that the families, degrees, & "real" jobs are an effective cover for all the rock-n-roll mayhem and madness. Fast cars, expensive blowout parties, and chartered jets (SUVs, Chuck E.Cheese’s, Minivans) It's just another day at the office.
Kurt
Lead vocals, rhythm guitar.Kurt (aka "Freak") hails from Motown but he was exiled because he lacked the Motown rhythm. Fighting the anonymity of suburbia, he finds himself out in front of Suburban Angst livin' the dream, wrecking his voicebox, and throwin' down a bit of left-handed rhythm guitar (hence the nickname...as if anyone would call McCartney a freak?!?). Basking in the ability to play and sing simultaneously (next is walk+chew gum), Freak has come a long way from his first session with Randy who, after ~5 min of jammin', suggested "why don't you just sing, I will handle the musical stuff".
Keith
Our drummer, Keith Lindsay, hails from Orange County, California. He began playing at 14 years old, after purchasing a drum kit with summer job money. After earning his chops, his first bands were in the post-punk Los Angeles music scene. His playing has evolved over the years. Now, Keith can play any style of drums and percussion, but is most heavily influenced by hard rock, ska, and reggae.Keith plays Gretsch Drums, Zildjian Cymbals, and LP Percussion.
Randy
Randy is a native Atlantan who discovered his love for guitars after a buddy found a used Fender Mustang in a trash heap. Listening to Rick Derringer’s “Rock and Roll Hootchie Coo” night after night convinced him to start rocking too. After stints playing in several bands, he decided he really should find a legit job, get married, have a bunch of kids and move to the burbs. His guitars were never far away and helped him get thru many difficult periods in his life – “they were the only things that would listen to me and still are. I have needs too, you know!” Suburban Angst isn’t Randy’s only music outlet.Randy has composed and recorded 6 Cds of his own, none of which will ever make the airways, but “it’s diabolically comforting to know that I’ll be torturing future Agnew generations by forcing them to listen to it!”
Hector is a military brat who hails from all over the place.Mostly playing bass, but not to be completely outdone by The Freak, occasionally pretends to sing and play other guitars too! However, his official role in the band is to constantly point out to the other guys that there is something new in the music store that they simply must buy.Hector has played in a handful of bands going waaaaay back his Illinois farm-hand youth. He’s turned down many a major record label contract because all he ever really wanted was a simple life in the ‘burbs…ok, maybe not.Hector plays Fender guitars and Ampeg amps.
